Westkapelle Sea Dyke - Observation point

Between the North Sea and the village of Westkapelle lies the impressive Westkapelle Sea Dyke.
What makes the Sea Dyke of Westkapelle special?
This five-kilometre-long sea defence protects Walcheren from the sea and is at the same time one of the most beautiful places in the village for walking, cycling and getting some fresh air.
- Impressive coastal defence: From the dyke, you can look far out over the North Sea, the beach, the dunes and the coastline towards Domburg. On clear days, you can see ships passing by and enjoy a splendid panoramic view.
Noorderhoofdweg: Running along the sea dyke is the Noorderhoofdweg, a distinctive road and slope right beside the coast of Westkapelle. The sea dyke is a wonderful place for a walk or a cycle ride. You feel the sea breeze, hear the waves and enjoy ever-changing views over sea and village along the way.
- Almost to the beach by car: On the northern side of Westkapelle, towards Domburg, you can get surprisingly close to the beach by car. This makes this part of the coast especially distinctive and popular with visitors.
- Beautiful sunset: The Sea Dyke is one of the most beautiful places in Westkapelle to watch the sun sink into the sea. Especially on calm evenings, it is an atmospheric place for a short walk or a lovely photo opportunity.
- Camper vans during the day: During the day, there are often many camper vans on and around the sea dyke. It is a popular place to stop for a while and enjoy the view. Overnight stays in camper vans are not allowed here, however.
Noorderhoofd lighthouse: The red-and-white Noorderhoofd lighthouse on the sea dyke is a real eye-catcher. This photogenic lighthouse is an unmissable hotspot in Zeeland, especially during the golden hour when the soft light creates beautiful photographs.
A photogenic place on the Zeeland coast
The Sea Dyke of Westkapelle is not only an important coastal defence structure, but also a favourite place for walkers, cyclists, photographers and those seeking peace and quiet. The combination of sea, beach, dyke, lighthouse and far-reaching views makes this one of the most recognisable places on Walcheren.
